Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

As specified by the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics and the State of Florida, I will keep anything we discuss in session confidential, with a few exceptions:

  • If you sign a release directing me to with another mental health or medical provider, or other entity.

  • If I determine you are an imminent danger to yourself or others.

  • If you disclose current incidents of child or elder abuse.

  • If you disclose that you have a commonly known life threatening disease and I determine that you do not intend to notify third parties about the disease and intend to engage in behaviors that could be harmful to them.

  • If I receive a court order to release confidential or privileged information.

In situations where I feel that disclosure is required, I will do my best to disclose the minimum amount of information required to comply with these exceptions to confidentiality.

As a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, I will confidentially discuss my cases with my supervisor. These meetings are required as I work toward my licensure, and they allow me to become a better therapist.
